Terrible Bus Accident: 10 Died

Kolkata, 12 Dec: At least ten people including two women and a child were killed and fifty were injured when an overcrowded bus fell into a ditch yesterday morning. While six passengers died on the spot, the rest succumbed to their injuries either in the hospital or on the way. Out of the injured, 26 were sent to NRS medical college and hospital. Other injured persons were released after first aid.
According to an eye-witness, the Kolkata bound private bus was running at high speed. Suddenly, a cyclist came in front of the bus from the opposite direction. In order to save the cyclist the driver turned the bus to the right and lost control. It fell into a ditch-roof down and wheels up. As a result ten persons were killed and fifty five others were injured. The driver and the bus conductor fled. Local people rushed to the victims. Traffic in the area was disrupted, resulting in a traffic jam for about two hours. A contingent of police and the fire brigade reached the spot. Police controlled the situation and normalcy was restored.
