Swami Vivekananda

Swami Vivekananda was one of the great men of India in the nineteenth century. He was born at Simla in Kolkata on 12 January, 1863 in a respectable Datta Family. His early name was Narendranath and nick name Bile. He was restless and spirited from his childhood. He passed the Entrance Examination from Metropolitan School. And he had his B.A from Scottish Church College. Vivekananda met Sri Ramkrishna, a great mystic at Dakshineswar, Kolkata. The meeting transformed his life. He became a monk. He traveled India on foot and got direct knowledge of his country. Vivekananda spoke at the world Religious Conference at Chicago, USA. He became famous at once. He set up Ramkrishna Mission in many places to preach the gospel of his Guru. This great man died on July 4, 1902 at the age of 39. He was a monk and patriot.
