Her mother was Shevanti Mangeshkar. She learnt music from her father and Ali Khan and Amant Khan. The whole responsibility of her family fell upon her when her father died in 1942. Before she ruled the Indian music circuit, Lata Mangeshkar started her career in the film industry as an actor and acted in eight films between 1942 and 1948. Her first song was recorded in 1942. In 1948 for some inconveniences she got her big break. Lata Mangeshkar worked with many legendary music directors and male playback singers. This distinguished artist recorded more than 50,000 songs in over thirty-six Indian languages. For her incredible contributions in the field of music she was awarded with Padma Award in 1989, Padma Vibhushan in 1999 and the Bharat Ratna in 2001. Everyone’s favourite, Lata was tested positive for Covid-19 and died on 6th February, 2022.
